[edit] Internal links
One of the things that makes the internet useful (and potentially more powerful than printed text) is the possibility for extensive cross-linking to other sources of information. These easily-created links allow users to instantly access information related to the text they're reading.
[edit] When to link
If you're trying to decide whether to make a link or not, ask yourself "If I were the reader, would the link be useful to me?"
[edit] How to link
When you want to make a link to another ABRI page (called a wiki link) you have to put it in double square brackets, like this:
- Tutorial
For example, if you want to make a link to, say, the Protocols page, it would be:
- Protocols
If you want to use words other than a page title as the text of the link, you can add an alternative name by adding after the pipe "|" divider (SHIFT + BACKSLASH on English-layout and other keyboards).
For example, if you wanted to make a link to the Protocols page in the context of a sentence, you might write it as such:
- To read about ABRI's style guide, click here...
It would appear as:
- To read about ABRI's style guide, click here...
but would link to the Protocols page.
[edit] Alternative endings
When you want to use the plural of a page title (or add any other suffix) for your link, you can add the extra letters directly outside the double square brackets.
For example, you would write:
- Learn more about editing in the tutorials....
It would appear as:
- Learn more about editing in the tutorials....
Continue with the tutorial.
