Most scientific information today is communicated through peer-review publication. This is useful for communicating highly integrated knowledge but it is slow and it leaves out most of the experimental data, thought and discussion that was integral to the execution of the research.

Collaboration and publication tools such as blogs and wikis provide new means of distributing scientific information.
